Lobby Lounge: Afternoon Tea (Shangri-La Toronto)
During my stay at Shangri-La Toronto, I had the chance to booked a reservation for their high tea. A delighted treat to start my long weekend holiday (I think it was Victoria day). I also got a reservation for Ritz by luck, I tried to book one while in Vancouver and they were booked up a month in advance! Anyways, my schedule was jammed from the wedding that I had to cancel 🙁
And this was one of the best afternoon teas I have had since Shangri-La Bangkok. The High Tea ($40 per person). The lobby itself is just gorgeous….you have live piano playing, birds chirping, fireplace….effortless luxury. Very relaxing and calm atmosphere. The service was outstanding. Afternoon tea was exceptional! A large selection of high-end sandwiches, scones and desserts. The setup and china were beautiful. I requested a table by the fireplace and of course, it was accommodated.
Staff are attired in Cheong Sams in keeping with the Shangri-La vibe. Was promptly seated, tea selected and brought out quickly as were the lovely delicacies- 2 scones (one plain, one chamomile flecked), savor ones were a cucumber finger sandwich, chicken salad on whole wheat, mini lobster roll and egg salad on rye. Desserts were decadently beautiful- passion fruit bavarois, chocolate ganache bombe, and an absolutely divine cherry infused cake topped with ginger lemon curd and decorated with edible flowers.
Overall just an amazing experience! Definitely, a Must-Try when in Toronto!
My advice: Afternoon tea is served from 2-5 daily, reservation is required.
